I know very few people who are not fond of good old English mysteries, the point of which are neither blood nor agression but the intriguing question of ‘whodunit’. Since my very favourite writer of the genre, Agatha Christie, was born 126 years ago yesterday, Christina and I have decided to host a blogathon in her honour. We’re grateful to all the bloggers who joined us to celebrate!
Today all our participants are going to concentrate on her most famous character, everyone’s favourite Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. I’m going to add posts that feature him to today’s recap throughout the whole event!
As a matter of fact, we haven’t suggested you anything. You were free to write about books with Poirot investigating in them, episodes of the marvelous series featuring David Suchet and even movie or theatrical adaptations. As a result, I’m sure today’s roaster will be huge fun to read! We can hardly wait for your entries! Let the blogathon begin!
Agatha Christie Blogathon – Day 1
‘Ladies and gentlemen, you are all aware that a repulsive murderer has himself been repulsively, and, perhaps deservedly, murdered.’
Musings of a Classic Film Addict — MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (1974)
‘Poirot took her gently by the arm and drew her along the deck, still in the direction of the stern. The Nile flowed away behind them.’
M. C. Dulac — DEATH ON THE NILE 1937 & 1978
Critica Retro — DEATH ON THE NILE (1978)
‘It is peaceful.’ agreed Hercule Poirot. ‘The sun shines. The sea is blue. But you forget, there is evil everywhere under the sun.’
Caftan Woman — EVIL UNDER THE SUN
‘It is a profound belief of mine that if you can induce a person to talk to you for long enough, on any subject whatever, sooner or later they will give themselves away.’
Ah Sweet Mystery Blog — AFTER THE FUNERAL
‘Ah, Hastings, my dear friend. They were good days. Yes… they have been good days.’
The Dream Book Blog — CURTAIN: POIROT’S LAST CASE (2013)
(Have a look at the original announcement here!)
You can find tomorrow’s recap on Christina’s site. Prepare yourself for everything Miss Marple!
